Weekend operational outlook
Posted by Pico Mountain on January 17, 2013
The January thaw has come and gone, and Pico Mountain is already back in action and ready for winter mode! Snowmaking started on 49er and Lower Pike as soon as the temperatures dropped earlier this week, and they’ll be blanketing the mountain with fresh snow. Snowmaking on Middle and Upper Pike could start as early as this evening. Plus, Mother Nature gave our snowmakers a hand by dropping three inches of fresh powder Wednesday!

Over 17 miles of Inbounds Skiing and Riding

Old Man Winter has continued to blanket Pico Mountain in white – over three feet in the last seven days! The combination of snowmaking around the clock and natural snow allowed Ski Patrol to open 100% of Pico’s trails.
All the snow has also lured amateur skiers and riders to the sidecountry in search of fresh powder outside the resort’s area boundaries, a decision that could lead to a search involving the Vermont State Police, Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, members of the Pico ski patrol, Killington Volunteer Fire Department and a local volunteer search and rescue team as well as an unplanned stay in the woods.

Snow Update: 5 More Inches!
Posted by Pico Mountain on March 5, 2012
A new month has arrived with a roar, and we’re getting the week started in our favorite way – skiing and riding fresh, fluffy powder at Pico Mountain! That’s right, another 5 inches of snow from Mother Nature brings us to a total of 19 inches in the past 7 days. As the almanacs say, March really has come in like a lion, and we won’t mind if this big cat curls up and sticks around for a while.
