Operations Update for Dec. 27
Posted by Pico Mountain on December 26, 2011
A big thanks to Mother Nature for giving Pico Mountain low temperatures and allowing our incredible snowmakers to make piles and piles of snow all weekend long! Their hard work certainly shows, we’re skiing and riding top to bottom down 49er off the summit. Plus we’re making sweet turns on two miles of open trails for all ability levels Tuesday, December 27.
It’s been a whirl wind of low temperatures to temps spiking unusually high for this time of the year, but here at Pico Mountain, we’re focusing on the positives of winter. For instance, we’ve been skiing and riding since December 17! Whatever the Mother Nature tosses our way, we’ve been making turns and enjoying the commodore that Pico boasts on a regular basis.
Speaking of unusually warm temperatures, we’ve got a south wind moving into Pico on Tuesday and the mercury will be rising (so strange, yet true), so we’ll be giving our snowmakers a short break for the day and making turns in soft snow (positive note). As our snow guns are relaxing for a bit, our groomers will be out and about laying down corduroy on all open trails Tuesday (another postive note).
Intermediate/advanced folks should hit up 49er from the summit and check out Fool’s Gold and Lower Pike. If you like making turns under the guns, head to Lower Swinger. Beginners should stop by Bonanza for easier terrain. Upon our snowmakers return, they’ll continue to blanket Pico’s trails with white – stay tuned because we’re looking to add Gold Rush and Express Way to our roster.
We’ll be spinning the Bonanza Chair to access easier terrain along with the Golden and Summit Express Quads for access to intermediate/advanced skiing and riding beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Keep your eye out for more trails, more snowmaking, and more lifts as conditions permit. In addition, the Pico Lodge will be fully open.
For Tuesday, lifts will be open from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and tickets will be $59 for adults (19-64), $50 for Young Adults/Seniors (13-18/65+) and $41 for Juniors (7-12).

Then grab a Pico Express Card and ski or ride for only $29 Monday, Thursday and Friday (non-peak) and for just $39 weekend and peak (FYI, we’re in a peak period through Sunday, January 1).
