PICO MOUNTAIN OFFERS FREE LIFT TICKET WITH EVERY HELMET PURCHASED JANUARY 19-27
Posted by Pico Mountain on January 11, 2013
Pico Mountain is offering skiers and riders one free lift ticket with the purchase of a new helmet to promote National Safety Awareness Week, January 19-27. In partnership with the National Ski Areas Association, Pico Mountain encourages slope safety awareness with special events, giveaways and contests that help educate skiers and riders about responsible behavior on the slopes.
Pico Mountain supports and promotes Your Responsibility Code – the seven point code that outlines responsible slope behavior for skiers and riders, and Smart Style – a four-point safety awareness message about the use and progression of freestyle terrain at mountain resorts. Information will be displayed on café trays, at ticket sales points and on shuttle busses, as well as in retail shops. Pico Mountain and NSAA will focus on providing information to skiers and riders about how to use the lifts safely.

Buy a helmet in Pico Sports Shop from January 19-27, 2013 and receive a voucher for a 1-day lift ticket valid any day of the 2013 winter season starting January 28, 2013.

On the Mountain
Outside, Mountain Ambassadors will be wearing bright yellow jackets that display important safety awareness messages. Together with ski patrollers and terrain park staff, they’ll be handing out Know the Code and Smart Style stickers and cards in addition to giving away Get Smart - Freestyle Terrain Users Guides.
Local Safety Poster Contest
In order to promote slope safety awareness and education to elementary school children, several area schools are participating in the resort’s local poster contest. Fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students will create posters illustrating any one of the seven points of Your Responsibility Code or one of the four elements of Smart Style. Posters will be on display around the resort and judged in two categories: Best Overall Safety Message and Most Creative Design. Two winners and two runners-up will receive prizes. Winners of the local contest will be entered in National Ski Areas Association’s national contest. For more information, check out NSAA.
