The January thaw has come and gone, and Pico Mountain is already back in action and ready for winter mode! Snowmaking started on 49er and Lower Pike as soon as the temperatures dropped earlier this week, and they’ll be blanketing the mountain with fresh snow. Snowmaking on Middle and Upper Pike could start as early as this evening. Plus, Mother Nature gave our snowmakers a hand by dropping three inches of fresh powder Wednesday!
Pico Mountain’s trail count depends greatly on natural snow; until we get more help from Mother Nature our snowmakers will be hard at work creating optimal conditions wherever snowmaking is possible. This includes our groomers making smooth corduroy with the snow we make on the more high traffic trails. Be sure to check out the snow report for the latest updates for the holiday weekend!
