Weekend Operations Update, Jan. 14-15

What a fantastic week at Pico Mountain! Thursday’s snowstorm brought us seven inches of new snow and it’s still snowing – we’ve added an inch today! This storm is projected to stick around through Friday night as we head into the weekend. Winter weather, we’ve missed you!

Things have been busy on the hill, especially for our dedicated snowmakers! We kicked off 2012 with a lovely bluebird afternoon and great skiing and riding top to bottom on 49er, and we’ve been working on adding more terrain ever since. Between Mountain Operations and Mother Nature, we’ve been able to open new terrain, including Panhandler and Expressway with Prospector opening soon, real soon. The Pico Racing tradition is officially rolling for the 2012 season, too, with B Slope now open to host races and training.

Plus, with this new snowfall and great snowmaking temperatures, expect to see more trails opening

Our tireless groomers have been out every night, leaving fresh corduroy for early morning skiers and riders. The team has been making the best of every cold day to build, expand and maintain all six miles of open terrain for all ability levels.

The excitement doesn’t stop on the trails, our talented park crew is getting ready to work on the Triple Slope Terrain Park, so check back for updates, because we expect to be opening soon!

We’ve got skiing and riding for all ability levels, and there’s more in store, so stay tuned to the Snow Report. So what are you waiting for, grab your gear and head to Pico Mountain this weekend!
