GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
PSC GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
YOGA: The type of yoga we will offer at this time is called Astanga. This is a vigorous form of yoga that will start off at beginner level and advance over time. Participants find decreased stress with increased flexibility and strength from this class.
PILATES: The ever-popular class is back to challenge your core. A class for body sculpting and building strength that will improve both flexibility and agility. A class for lean muscle building, not bulk, enjoys re-shaping your body with this class.
TAI CHI & KARATE: Taught by a master instructor. Mind-body courses incorporate the discipline of martial arts with intense focus, strong movement and breath. Please clear your schedule for this; it is best taken as a series as you learn the movements.
BOOT CAMP & SPORTS STYLE CONDITIONING: These classes are not traditional aerobics class; no choreography. Classes provide intense calorie burn using sports style agility training, polymeric and resistance training.
*Please note: most exercises can be modified for those concerned that they are not ready for such intense exercise.
CARDIO MIX: A blend of various aerobic forms with sculpting exercises tossed into the mix. Always changing, always a full body workout. This class is excellent for fitness levels of all kinds; the instructor offers options for high and low impact aerobics.
STEP AND SCULPT: Step aerobics will never go out of style and it will always offer a serious workout as it burns calories, builds muscle and strength all at once. This class offers an up-dated version of step class combining body-sculpting exercises including lots of abs! You choose your difficulty level.
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING: You decide how hard or easy this class is as you chose your own weights and resistance. This class is guaranteed to teach strength training options and exercise design to the beginner and to offer new ideas to the seasoned veteran. It is a great workout to add to your training regimen. Let us do the thinking for one of your training sessions.
AQUASIZE: Imagine a full hour of aerobic exercise and resistance training with little joint impact and never feeling like you are breaking a sweat! Try aerobics in our pool with specialized instructors who see that you really do get a great workout into your day without the pain of some land exercise classes. Great for people of all ages.
HIP HOP: Designed to combine fat burning cardio with fun and funk. This might not turn you into a better club hopper, but it will offer you a bit of fun while you sweat.
CIRCUITS: Get a fast full body workout in 45 minutes of stations alternating strength cardio bursts. Make it as intense as you want it to be as participants work independently at each station set up by a personal trainer who conducts the class. Different each week.
GENTLE STRENGTH: Although popular with our senior members, this class is for any age individual looking to increase strength, bone density, flexibility and balance. With well-trained staff that is focused on safety and individual modification, this class uses lighter weights, exercise tubing and other easy to use resistance equipment. If you are looking for an early morning group exercise class but think this is too easy for you, try it out using heavier weights!
