Fitness Class Descriptions
MORNING BLEND
Inspired by yoga, pilates and "gentle strength" classes, this class was put together to offer a simple blend of the many popular classes that touch on the three "S’s": Stretch, Strength and Stability. Class is designed for any individual looking to increase flexibility, balance and muscle-strength. Start you day with this revitalizing class.
MIDWEEK BODY BLAST
Get your metabolism roaring! Offered early morning for 45 minutes to give your body the full body wake-up workout it needs and off to work feeling accomplished! Class is more like personal training than your typical group exercise class. A personal trainer/instructor will lead you through a variety of fast paced exercises combining cardio & resistance training in both the aerobics room and the weight room when numbers permit.
POWER YOGA
It is a vigorous style of yoga requiring the execution of basic yoga poses yet, guarantees an energetic workout offering challenges that can be done even by beginners in yoga. Regular class attendance builds strength, flexibility, stamina, realigns the spine and detoxifies the body. The series of poses takes participants through sun salutations, standing poses, seated poses, inversions and backbends; finishing with relaxation.
YOGAFIT
The YogaFit Style blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format. YogaFit delivers a practical, user-friendly style that is doable by individuals at various levels of fitness. Class is designed to improve the health & performance of athletes or individuals interested in improving their level of fitness, reduce the risk of injury, and augment recovery for ailments including stress, lower back pain and tension. PSC’s YogaFit-trained instructor has experience and skill in both yoga and fitness instruction.
FLOW YOGA/Anusara flow
Après ski or ride-PSC has just the activity for you! This style allows for a lot of variety, but will almost certainly include Sun Salutations. Expect movement and stretching. This technique is called Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together. This is a great addition to your weekend activities. PSC’s Flow instructor comes to the PSC on Saturdays from her own studio and is quite a popular instructor for the various forms of yoga she offers. Take advantage of this class on Saturday’s at the PSC!
BOOT CAMP
This class is not a traditional aerobics class; no choreography. Class provides an intense calorie burn using agility, polymeric and resistance training. Every class is different and alternates through a variety of equipment and moves but is always highly motivational.
*Please note: most exercises can be modified for those concerned that they are not ready for such intense exercise.
CARDIO MIX
A blend of all your favorite aerobic classes with strength training exercises for all abilities tossed into the mix. Always changing, always a full body workout. This class is excellent for fitness levels of all kinds; the instructor offers options for high and low impact aerobics throughout.
STEP AND SCULPT
Step aerobics will never go out of style and it will always offer a serious workout as it burns calories, builds muscle and strength all at once. PSC offers an up-dated version of step class combining step-aerobics with body-sculpting exercises & lots of abs! You choose your difficulty level.
AQUA
Imagine a full hour of aerobic exercise and resistance training with little joint impact and never feeling like you are breaking a sweat! Try aerobics in our pool with one of three specialized instructors who see that you really do get a great workout into your day without the pain of some land exercise classes. Uses of a variety of water weights and equipment. Great for all ages and abilities- including those returning to exercise following injury. Sore from being a "Weekend Warrior"? Jump into an Aqua class and work-it-out; you will be amazed at how great it feels!
SPORTS STYLE CONDITIONING
Calling all Athletes, "Athlete Wannabies", "Weekend Warriors" & "Gym Class Heroes’": Join this form of group training to fine-tune your body through sports related training exercises that will enhance your athletic endeavors. Class offers strength training, endurance and a bit of cardio with moves you will want to steel for your regular workouts! You decide how hard or easy this class is as you chose your own weights, resistance and pace. This class teaches strength training options and exercise design to the beginner and offers new ideas to the seasoned veteran.
